Coalitions

The Challenge Coalition is made up of focusspf areas designed to address specific substance abuse issues in Tarrant County. The coalition, with nearly 200 members, works to mobilize the community toward creating a safer, healthier, drug-free life  for the residents of Tarrant County. The Challenge Coalition is always interested in recruiting members to join in coalition efforts. The following groups are active and meet regularly. treatmentTreatment providers is comprised of representatives from Tarrant County area substance abuse treatment organizations. This group meets the third Wednesday of each month and focuses on identifying and resolving gaps in treatment services, mobilizing resources, and staying abreast of legislative issues related to substance abuse treatment.

red ribbonPrevention Providers collaborates with school and local substance abuse prevention specialists, youth-serving organizations, law enforcement, and community members to network and share information on effective prevention programs and strategies, funding, resources, and trainings. Prevention Providers meet the second Wednesday of each month. The group also organizes countywide drug-free awareness activities.

cpasaCommunity Partners for Alcohol Safety and Awareness (CPASA) is a program designed to dramatically reduce alcohol related accidents, injuries, and incidences of violence in Tarrant County youth. CPASA is led by a diverse community coalition of residents and professionals who develop and implement environmental strategies to reduce youth access to alcohol. Some environmental strategies include increasing parental awareness of the dangers of alcohol, implementing alcohol vendor compliance checks, and advocating for model policy changes.

UTAThe Community Coalition Project at UTA is compromised of university leadership and community based partners committed to promoting successful college experiences and initiating changes to social norms regarding underage high risk binge drinking among college students.
